Fantasy Football: Week 11 Waiver Wire Targets

Eleven weeks into the NFL season, here’s your weekly hit of Fantasy advice, starting with Waiver Wire Targets for this week.

Quarterback

Jake Locker (TEN): Likely to be available in many leagues owing to his recent injury, Locker came back to the starting lineup in a rout over the improving Dolphins. 9/21 passes yielded just 122 yards but he also bagged two touchdowns there too, as well as 4 carries for 36 yards. Locker is on a bye this week so if you can afford to wait then do it – otherwise grab and stash him before another owned does. One last stat, in his four games as starter Locker has got 10.26, 11.06, 24.62 and 16.48 points – pretty impressive for a guy owned in just 34.5 percent of leagues and effective cover if you own an injured QB.

Colin Kaepernick (SF): With Smith concussed on Sunday, Kaepernick came in and ran for a TD, as well as throwing for 117 yards and ran for another 66. That’s around 15 fantasy points which isn’t bad considering he came in for just 3 quarters of the game. It’s unsure whether Smith will be straight back in but if he isn’t then Kaepernick is startable. His scrambling style might even give the Bears D some trouble this week.

Jason Campbell (CHI): Jay Cutler also went down with a concussion this week, and Jason Campbell is a good pickup if you’re a Cutler owner or you want to blackmail one. Campbell had unspectacular numbers against the Texans though, but a week to prepare will give him a boost. Campbell is definitely startable in deeper leagues.

Running Back

Marcel Reece (OAK): Reece became an overnight household name in fantasy after both Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson had high ankle sprains. Reece took 14 carries on Sunday, a lot more than I expected as Reece is more of a weapon in the passing game. A legitimate starter this week against New Orleans who are poor against the run. Taiwan Jones lost snaps to rookie fullback Jeremy Stewart. Don’t pick up Stewart but if you grabbed Jones last week then I wouldn’t hesitate to drop him this week.

Chris Ivory (NO): Ivory has 120 rushing yards, 2 rushing TDs and 15 receiving yards over the last two weeks, and has easily more fantasy points than Pierre Thomas and Mark Ingram in the same period. I was really disappointed with Ingram this year those his role is expanding slightly. I like Ivory as a solid pickup in deeper leagues.

Wide Receiver

Laurent Robinson (JAX): Robinson only has 252 receiving yards all year, but 136 have come in the last 2 weeks. Robinson was targeted a league high 15 times in week 10, and caught nine passes. Unfortunately almost every pass was a short route and a fumble knocked 2 points off his final score. His stats may seem unimpressive but the targets alone make him a great pickup in deeper leagues.

Danny Amendola (STL): 102 yards from 11 catches is staple for Amendola, and in PPR leagues he is gold. Startable in 10 team in PPR, benchable in 10 team non PPR.

Denario Alexander (SD): Alexander was second only to Megatron in fantasy points scored for WRs in week 10, racking up 134 yards and a score. Clearly a favourite target for Rivers, Alexander is a better option right now than Meachem who got 8 yards receiving on the day.

Golden Tate (SEA): Tate has come alive these past two weeks, with over 16 points in both. This puts him 3rd overall for fantasy points scored by WRs in the last 2 weeks. The kid even threw a 23 yard touchdown this week against the Jets and should gain a bigger role in the Seattle offence alongside the improving Sidney Rice.

Tight End

Brandon Myers (OAK): Myers is owned in under 10% of leagues yet he is consistently putting up top 10 TE numbers, and is ranked 12th overall at the position. A top end bench TE in 10 team leagues and easily startable in all others, Myers has the highest reception percentage in the league of 77%, and is reliable on a weekly basis.

Defence/Special Teams

Dallas Cowboys: Facing the Browns this week will give the Cowboys a good score. I can see under 15 points scored, with 3 or 4 turnovers forced. Only owned in a quarter of leagues.

St Louis Rams: If you’re in a deeper league then the Rams might fit the bill if your starting Defence is on a bye. Facing the struggling Jets and coming off a huge performance that earned them a Tie at the 49ers, the Rams should be comfortable in stopping Sanchez and company this week. Owned in just 2.7% of all leagues.
